Launching Symposium

UCERF was officially launched on the 9th February 2007. The scientific programme of the symposium was combined with the presentation of the first copy of the most recent research project conducted by members of UCERF entitled "Huwelijk of geregistreerd partnerschap? Een evaluatie van de Wet openstelling huwelijk en de Wet geregistreerd partnerschap" (Marriage or registered partnership? An evaluation of the Act opening civil marriage to same-sex couples and the Act introducing registered partnership). The first copy of the book was presented to Mr. Boris Dittrich, former Member of the Dutch Second Chamber of Parliament.

Ministry of Justice Report: Marriage or registered partnership?

This research is aimed at evaluating two central pieces of Dutch family law legislation, namely the Act opening civil marriage to same-sex couples (Wet openstelling huwelijk) and the Act introducing registered partnership (Wet geregistreerd partnerschap). Although initially the Act introducing registered partnership was to be evaluated five years subsequent to its implementation, the Dutch Minister of Justice announced in 2001 the intention to evaluate both these pieces of legislation simultaneously in 2006.
